Buzz

Written/Directed/Edited by Kevin Brown

In a class where every student had to write, produce, direct, and edit their own short film, I chose to make Buzz!

With a small but mighty crew of four (myself included), we brought this fun and messy story to life.

Had an absolute blast creating it, enjoy!

Scripts & Plays

  • When a fading actress agrees to appear on a viral celebrity ice cream talk show, what begins as a PR opportunity spirals into a career-threatening catastrophe. Sharp-tongued, painfully funny, and disturbingly real, this is Hacks meets Hot Ones.

Chilled Ones is a dark comedy set in the pressure cooker of celebrity culture, where the line between image and identity melts faster than ice cream under studio lights.

One hour. One meltdown. One pair of cursed leopard heels.

  • After falling into a pattern of being the go-to "emergency hookup" for a charming guy, Olivers finally decides to flip the script.

Buzz is a sharp, fast-paced dark comedy about the slow burn of emotional manipulation and the tiny rebellions that help us reclaim our self-worth. Think High Fidelity meets Fleabag.

  • In the hustle and bustle of a grocery store, Oliver, a young gay cashier, finds himself embroiled in a whirlwind of emotions as last night’s unexpected hook-up appears in his line as a customer.

As he nervously monologues with himself, trying to navigate the situation, things take an unexpected turn when the hook-up's wife unexpectedly joins the scene. Suddenly, Oliver's anxiety-driven internal dialogue becomes even more intense as he desperately tries to avoid getting caught while also grappling with the repercussions of his choices.

The goal is clear: evade detection and perhaps reconsider his choices in partners.

  • In this original scene inspired by Amazon Prime's acclaimed show "Fleabag," our protagonist finds herself in yet another awkward predicament.

A past hookup shows up uninvited at her doorstep and refuses to leave, plunging Fleabag into a tense and uncomfortable situation. Written with the talent of Phoebe Waller-Bridge in mind, the script aims to deliver a compelling story within the confines of just four pages, showcasing Fleabag's trademark wit and vulnerability as she navigates this unexpected encounter.

  • In the wake of his wife's passing, Marty is thrust into an extraordinary circumstance, one that challenges the very fabric of time itself.

Inspired by Richard Connell’s "The Most Dangerous Game," Marty must confront the ultimate question: where does he truly belong, and what sacrifices is he willing to make to find his way back? This short sci-fi story pushes the boundaries of possibility, delving into themes of loss, determination, and the quest for redemption in the face of overwhelming odds.

  • In my debut full-length play, tension reaches a crescendo as a young woman arrives unannounced at a family's home during their daughter's wake.

As the mystery surrounding her identity deepens, the atmosphere becomes increasingly charged with uncertainty and unease. Through this narrative, I aimed to capture the essence of awkwardness compellingly and engagingly, weaving together themes of mystery, family dynamics, and the complexities of human relationships.
